Mostra fotografica di Robert Capa, tra i più grandi reporter di guerra

Grazie ai propri reportage il fotografo ungherese Robert Capa (1913–1954) ha reso testimonianza di cinque diversi conflitti bellici. La mostra dal titolo Capa100 sarà inaugurata con un vernissage mercoledì 6 novembre alle 17.00 nel corridoio del palazzo rosso (campus di Lugano). L'iniziativa nasce da una collaborazione tra l'ambasciata di Ungheria in Svizzera e la prof. dell'Accademia di architettura Daniela Mondini, che a Lugano tiene un corso di Storia della fotografia e che introdurrà brevemente la mostra.

Artrite reumatoide: presentazione dei risultati del progetto ONESELF

Lo studio, in collaborazione con la Lega ticinese per la lotta contro il reumatismo (LTCR), ha valutato l’impatto sul benessere e sulla motivazione dei pazienti di un sito con informazioni, strumenti di supporto e spazi per il dialogo sia con i medici sia con le altre persone affette da questa malattia cronica, caratterizzata da un forte impatto sulla quotidianità. La presentazione è in programma mercoledì 13 novembre alle 18.30 nell’Aula magna del campus di Lugano: parteciperanno Zlatina Kostova, dottoranda ICH che ha condotto la ricerca, il prof. Schulz (direttore ICH) e il dr. Nicola Keller (presidente LCTR).

Un workshop sull'arte di proporre un'idea imprenditoriale

Cosa direste ad un potenziale investitore a proposito della vostra idea imprenditoriale se vi trovaste con lui solo per alcuni minuti? Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier, Managing Director di CTI Invest e coach del CTI Start-up, illustrerà l'arte di descrivere la propria idea di business sinteticamente e in modo efficace. Seguiranno alcuni esempi di aziende ospitate presso il CP Start-up, l'incubatore d'impresa dell'USI. L'incontro si terrà in inglese venerdì 8 novembre dalle 9.00 alle 12.00 in aula 250, campus di Lugano. La partecipazione è libera previa iscrizione.

Borse di studio Network USImpresa: candidature entro il 15 novembre

Gli studenti iscritti al secondo anno di Master possono da ora presentare domanda per le borse 2013/2014, del valore di CHF 4'000 ciascuna. Le borse, promosse dalle realtà professionali partner del Network USImpresa, testimoniano l’impegno delle aziende e dell’USI nel sostenere l’eccellenza nello studio. Le borse sono assegnate in base a criteri di merito. La cerimonia di consegna si terrà il 9 dicembre alle 18.00 in auditorio (campus di Lugano).

Giornalista per tre giorni grazie al "BlogLab"

Varesenews organizza un laboratorio di giornalismo digitale rivolto a studenti iscritti al triennio delle scuole superiori e a quelli delle università italiane e della Svizzera italiana. Il laboratorio, denominato BlogLab, avrà luogo nell’ambito di Glocalnews, il festival del giornalismo digitale che si terrà dal 14 al 17 novembre a Varese. Grazie alla collaborazione con l'EJO possono iscriversi anche gli studenti dell'USI, in squadre di quattro. Queste “micro-redazioni” dovranno lavorare sul campo per realizzare un proprio blog.

Anche all'USI un gruppo movember, per un novembre con i baffi

Movember è una nota campagna internazionale di sensibilizzazione che si tiene per tutto il mese di novembre e pone l’accento sulla salute maschile associandola al simbolo dei baffi. Come gesto concreto di adesione al movimento i partecipanti di sesso maschile ci “mettono la faccia” facendosi crescere i baffi per tutto il mese, impegnandosi parallelamente nella raccolta fondi per la ricerca sul cancro (in particolare su quello ai testicoli e alla prostata). Il gruppo movermber USI sarà lieto di dare il benvenuto a tutti gli uomini e le donne della comunità accademica interessati a sostenere l'iniziativa.

Photographic Exhibition of Robert Capa, one of the greatest War Reporters

Thanks to his own reports, the Hungarian photographer Robert Capa (1913-1954) has born testimony to five different wars. The exhibition called Capa100 will be inaugurated with a vernissage on Wednesday, 6 November, at 5pm, in the corridor of the red building (Lugano Campus). The initiative has emerged from a collaboration between the Hungarian embassy in Switzerland and Prof. Daniela Mondini of the Academy of Architecture who teaches a course in History of Photography in Lugano and who will briefly introduce the exhibition.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: presentation of the ONESELF project results

The study, performed in collaboration with the Lega Ticinese for the fight against rheumatism (LTCR), has evaluated the disease’s impact on patients’ well-being and motivation. The patients were using a web site with information, support instruments and spaces for dialogue both with doctors and with other people concerned by this chronic disease that strongly impacts daily life. Results of the project will be presented on Wednesday, 13 November, at 6.30pm in the Aula Magna of Lugano Campus. Zlatina Kostova, a PhD student of the ICH who carried out the research, Prof. Schulz (ICH director) and Dr. Nicola Keller (LCTR President) will participate.

A Workshop on the Art of Pitching

What would you tell a potential investor to convince him of your business idea if you met him for only a few minutes? Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier, Managing Director of CTI Invest and coach of CTI Start-up, will illustrate the art of presenting one’s business idea in a synthetic and efficient way. Some examples of start-ups hosted at the incubator of CP Start-up will be presented afterwards. The workshop will be held in English on Friday, 8 November, from 9am to noon in room 250, on Lugano Campus. Participation is free of charge, but a registration is required.

Network USImpresa Scholarships: applications until 15 November

Students in the second year of a Master’s degree programme can from now on apply for the scholarships of 2013/2014, each worth CHF 4.000. The scholarships are offered by partner businesses of the USImpresa Network and reflect the companies’ and USI’s efforts to support excellent students. The scholarships are awarded according to merit. The award ceremony will be held on 9 December, at 6pm, in the Auditorium (Lugano Campus).

Being a Journalist for three Days thanks to "BlogLab"

Varesenews will organize a laboratory on digital journalism for high school students and for students from an Italian university or from USI. The laboratory is called BlogLab and will take place in the context of Glocalnews, the digital journalism festival that will be held in Varese from 14 to 17 November. Thanks to the collaboration with the EJO also USI students can register for the laboratory, in groups of four. These "micro editorial staffs" will have to work on site to implement their own blog.

Also USI hosts a Movember Group, for a bearded November

Movember is a famous international sensitisation campaign taking place during the entire month of November and focusing on men’s health that is associated with the symbol of the beard. As an expression of adherence to the movement, male participants will let their beards grow for the whole month. At the same time, they will seek to raise funds for cancer research (in particular testicular and prostate cancer). USI’s Movember group will be happy to welcome all men and women of the academic community who would like to support the initiative.
