The event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday 20 and 21 May at the Stralugano. It is one of the biggest sporting events in the city, an event that puts the sport in the folk festival.
The sports service collaborates successfully together with the organizing committee of Stralugano since last year and promotes within USI and SUPSI participation in the relay-run either as a team than as individual runners.

20 may 2017 / 19h00
Children will be running for the very first time on Saturday 20 May! The competition for youngsters comprises a 700 m run which winds its way along the city’s streets; the route will be the same for all children, but will only be run once by kids under the age of 10, twice for youngsters in the u12 category (1400 m) and three times for those in the u14 and u16 categories (2100 m). This year we have decided to give even greater visibility to young children who, for the very first time, will be running a new race: the u6 category! For further information: sara@stralugano.ch
The aim of the race for these young athletes, with their infectious exuberance, is to celebrate the spirit of joyful participation which has always characterised StraLugano.
The U14 and U16 categories will also make it possible to collect points for the 2017 Youth Race Cup promoted by ASTI.
Through a number of activities Migros has undertaken to promote good health in Switzerland; this is why the first 500 registrations on the KidsRun are FREE, kindly offered by generation M!

20 may 2017 / 21h00
After the great success of 2016, nobody should miss this colourful 5 km fun run: mothers with prams, grandparents with their grandchildren, extended families, adolescents and adults together for an evening of solidarity.
And this is why on Saturday, 20 May 2017 at 21.00, we would like Lugano’s streets to be overflowing with enthusiasm and joy during this new fun run.
Almost anybody can handle 5 km, even those who have never been involved in the world of running. Rankings and times are irrelevant because this is not what it’s about; the purpose is to have fun together, walking, running or strolling in the awareness that the proceeds of this run will be donated to associations which are part of the local programme to help people in need.

HALFMARATHON |

21 may 2017 / 10h00

10 KM CITY RUN |
|
21 maggio 2017 / 13h00
This is a veritable City race for all runners who love the most accessible distances. A stunning route, which, at the last event, the great Kenyan talent, Thomas Lokomwa ran in the outstanding time of 28’37”, thereby crowning two Stra-races (Lugano and Milan). A performance which leaves no room for doubt as to the fast pace of the route which has recently been approved by the SwissAthletic technicians. The course follows some of the most scenic city streets which are steeped in history and culture and which are also spotless. The thrilling start on Lugano’s lakeside promenade is a unique experience of incomparable beauty.
The first 3 km are along a wide lane allowing for speed and ease of overtaking. The curves too are broad and do not slow the pace. After the 3rd kilometre, the road splits into two to allow runners to run to the “Devil’s Bridge” turning point and back.
The route then enters the City Park against an exceptional backdrop of glorious spring colours.
The route along the stunning lakeside to Paradiso might distract runners from the race, to the detriment of their performance. The return section towards the city centre skirts the new LAC Lugano Art and Culture Centre and enters Via Nassa, a delightful route past major fashion brands’ shop windows. The last 300 m section returns back along the first stage of the race for a thrilling arrival under the finish arch.
