New York welcomes USI graduates
The first USI Alumni reunion across the Atlantic for alumni living and working in the US will be held on Thursday, June 22nd. This event is organised in collaboration with Swissnex Boston, thanks to our graduate Francesco Bortoluzzi (BA in Communication Sciences, 2012). About 30 alumni will take part in the event that will feature an introductory speech by Professor Paul Schneider and American career stories of USI graduates.

Grand Tour for Academy Alumni
The evening "Grand Tour 1 - Travel as Research" was held in Mendrisio on May 24th, with the participation of Federica Giovannini and Aldo Celoria, who were among the first students to graduate in architecture in 2002.

- Tobias Lindenmann (Architecture degree, 2003) has made partner of the studio Adrian Streich Architekten AG, Zurich.
- Philippe Chevrier (Degree in Communication Sciences, 2000) has been appointed Vice President Business Segment in Honeywell Aerospace in Arizona (USA).
- Laura Magon (BA in Communication Sciences, 2006 and Master in Marketing, 2008) after years of working in the US for P&G as Brand Manager is back in Europe still working for P&G as Brand Manager in Geneve.
- Stefano Larotonda (Architecture degree, 2007) has received the premio giovani dell’Accademia Nazionale di San Luca (2015).

Passing of the baton at the graduation ceremony
In April and May, the Faculties of Communication Sciences and Economics held their graduation ceremony. On this occasion, three graduates shared their career experience: Claudia Von Gunten (Master in International Tourism, 2011) currently working as an economist for the Cantonal Administration, Patrizia Holzborn (Degree in Economics, 2001) currently Group Finance Director for Le Creuset Group and Alessio Manzan (Degree in Economics, 2001), Marketing Director at LAC.
The graduation ceremony at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio will be held in the end of June.

A month rich in achievements for USI
The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation has announced that the Dreyfus Prize 2017 in Chemical Sciences has been awarded to Prof. Michele Parrinello.
Michael Bronstein, Prof. at the Faculty of Informatics has been appointed “Radcliffe fellow”, that is considered among one of the most competitive and prestigious awards in the United States.
Weeks later, the Robert Koch Foundation assigned the 2017 Robert Koch Award to Prof. Antonio Lanzavecchia for his pioneering discoveries in the field of immunology.

In September 2017, the new academic year at USI will open with four innovative graduate-level study programs, in different subject areas but with one thing in common: a prevailing critical focus on human thought and technological developments.
