Non-hierarchical Agile Organisations – Avaloqs way of change
Speaker: Oliver Kuster
Avaloq, Switzerland

Time: 13.30-15.15

According to Gallup, an international performance-management consulting company that is probably best known for their opinion polls, employee engagement has been low since years. However, companies have invested a lot in raising employee engagement, as low engagement leads to high economic costs through less contribution, inner resignation, or even more sickness days. How can a company boost engagement, foster collaboration and have their employees working in the most efficient way? What is needed to attract, retain and engage the best people for creative jobs such as software development? How can an organisation best support its people in their day to day work? Avaloq has just changed to a new non-hierarchical model – here are the challenges, improvements and findings.

This talk is part of a public seminar series organised within the Master in Financial Technology & Computing

Oliver Kuster has been with Avaloq for 11 years. He got his doctorate degree at the University of Zurich in accounting. After joining Avaloq as a Business Analyst, he held several management roles and was also working on different implementation projects. Today he leads a division of 100+ employees, spread across four locations. His division develops fully integrated software for bankers, from front office applications to core banking functionalities such as taxes, accounting or legal reporting.
