Anne Gregory: Key issues in stakeholder management

Lugano welcomes new EMScom17 class for the kick-off session

A new class of thirteen professionals coming from nine different countries gathered last March in Lugano at USI Università della Svizzera italiana for the EMScom17 kick-off session. With an average age of 38, most of them work at management level in corporations, agencies, NGOs and public companies. They belong to different industries, such as information technology, advertising, PR and marketing, media and broadcasting, food and beverage, health and insurance. A warm welcome to the new EMScom class!


Four EMScom17 participants awarded the Global Alliance scholarships

The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA) awarded its international scholarships to four EMScom17 participants from Canada, Kenya, Italy and Portugal. These scholarships are available for applicants living and working outside of Switzerland. GA scholarship applications for EMScom18 (starting in March 2016) are now open: find out more about the eligibility criteria and how to apply.

Applications open for EMScom18: early bird fees and scholarships available

Applications are now open for the 18th edition of the EMScom program, starting in March 2016. Early bird fees are valid until August 31, 2015, and a limited number of Global Alliance scholarships are available for applicants living and working outside of Switzerland. If you are interested in knowing more about the EMScom, register to one of our upcoming online information session: the EMScom management team will illustrate the program and answer all your questions. 


The value of identity-based rebranding: EMScom consulting project to be presented at 2015 European Communication Summit

Kathrin Gasser and Gilda Schertenleib, two EMScom Alumnae, will hold a session about the value of an identity-based rebranding at the 2015 European Communication Summit in Brussels, on June 25. The theme of the presentation reflects the mandate given by a Swiss NPO (Pro Senectute) to an EMScom consulting project team. The team was awarded the Burson-Marsteller Award for Consulting Excellence in 2014.

Appreciative inquiry approach at the center of the 18th EMScom Excellence-in-communications Lecture

Last March nearly 100 communication professionals gathered at Swiss Life, in Zurich, for an evening lecture with John Hayes, Emeritus Professor of Change Management at Leeds University Business School (UK). Professor Hayes engaged the audience with case studies and concrete examples on what appreciative inquiry is and how it can be used to help people accentuate the positive, that is what is good and working well in the organization, instead of focusing their attention on eliminating the negative. EMScom Alumni Association: new initatives to be announced soon

The newly elected EMScom Alumni Association Board has already started working to enhance this platform for long-life networking and learning with new interesting initiatives. Among them are the new partnerships with Reputation Institute and SDA Bocconi, that are currently being finalized, and the integration of the EMScom Alumni Association website in the EMScom website, that will be carried out soon allowing a direct access to the Alumni community through the EMScom. Former EMScom faculty Prof. Bertil Cottier invited to speak about freedom of expression

Prof. Bertil Cottier, fomer EMScom faculty, will discuss about issues involving the freedom of speech at the Geneva Book Fair that will take place from April 29th until May 3rd. On Friday, May 1st prof. Cottier will take part in the debate Faut-il limiter la liberté d'expression? organised by the newspaper Le Temps of the French speaking region of Switzerland.

Reputation Roundtable in Zurich: How to be smart about your corporate reputation

At the upcoming Reputation Roundtable, which will take place on May 6, 2015 in Zurich, we will share the latest insights and trends to enable professionals to be smart about their reputation and shape stakeholder perceptions to support of company results. In addition, the results of the 2015 National RepTrak® study in Switzerland, the annual reputational study of the largest and most visible firms in Switzerland, will be presented and discussed. The event is organized by Reputation Institute in co-operation with Swisscom and the EMScom Alumni Association.
