FET-OPEN - NOVEL IDEAS FOR RADICALLY NEW TECHNOLOGIES

FET Open is a bottom-up scheme open to all disciplines that allows exploring novel and visionary ideas without pre-conceived boundaries. It is a scheme specifically designed to be open and continuously responsive to novel ideas.

FET Open support early stage, high-risk visionary collaborative research projects having a long-term vision and exploring new, radical and breakthrough scientific and technological possibilities.

MARIE-CURIE RESEARCH AND INNOVATION STAFF EXCHANGE RISE

RISE supports short-term mobility of research and innovation staff at all career levels, from the most junior (post-graduate) to the most senior, including also administrative and technical staff, thus promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas from research to market (and vice-versa).

Support is provided for the development of partnerships in the form of joint research and innovation activities between the participants. The grant supports the secondment of staff members for one month to one year.

Euresearch Lugano is pleased to invite you to the event “Rules and Regulations within H2020”, which will be held on Tuesday, 31 March 2015, from 13:00 to 14:30 at Cardiocentro Ticino in Lugano.

Swiss open calls for proposals

SNSF RESEARCH PROJECTS

The SNSF funds research projects in all disciplines.

The grants cover direct costs such as salaries of collaborators, materials, travel as well as other expenses. The costs of publication in a purely Open Access journal as well as the production costs of scientific book publications that are digital and Open Access are also covered by the grant and must be requested when the project proposal is submitted.

GERMAINE DE STAëL PROGRAMME

The «Germaine de Staël» programme promote cooperation between Swiss and French researchers in any discipline by covering costs related to travels and accommodation. Swiss participants can receive up to CHF 4’500 per project and per year for a maximum duration of two years.

SNSF PROFESSORSHIPS

SNSF Professorships target young researchers who intend to pursue an academic career and wish to establish their own team to realise a research project.

An SNSF Professorship includes the researcher's salary (assistant professorship level), a research grant, salaries of employees as well as a contribution to infrastructure costs. The funding period is 4 years and may be extended for no more than 2 years.

R'EQUIP

R'Equip is aimed at researchers in Switzerland who need top-quality, innovative equipment for their research work. The SNSF awards grants for the acquisition and development of large-scale apparatuses in all areas of science.

A grant pays for the acquisition of equipment worth at least CHF 100,000. It generally covers up to 50% of the acquisition costs and amounts to a maximum of CHF 1 million.

ERA-NET SMART GRIDS PLUS

The first Joint call of ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus is an initiative of funding programs from 21 European countries and regions. It intends to promote piloting and demonstration in the field of smart grids, with a focus on validation, scale-up and replication, integrating the three research layers of Stakeholder/Adoption, Marketplace and Technology.

Swiss participation in this ERA-NET initiative is coordinated by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) and proposals from Swiss partners need to comply with its requirements. A separate full application is requested.

SNIS AWARD FOR THE BEST THESIS IN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

The SNIS Award has been established to encourage outstanding young research scientists at the beginning of their careers. The SNIS Award prizes the best Ph.D. thesis received in a Swiss University on a subject related to International Studies.

The amount of the award is CHF 5'000.--.

Formal criteria provides that entrants must have received their Ph.D. degree in a Swiss University with "summa cum laude" or a mark equal or superior to 5.5. in the calendar year of the respective Award edition.

SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME SWITZERLAND-RUSSIA (STCPSR): JOINT RESEARCH PROJECTS

Joint Research Projects enable researchers in Switzerland to collaborate with a Russian partner. Those projects, which last for up to three years, are funded on the Swiss side with a maximum grant of CHF 250,000. The costs covered by the grants are comparable to those incurred in national SNSF projects (equipment, research funds, salaries).

CELTIC - PLUS

Celtic-Plus is an industry-driven European research initiative to define, perform and finance through public and private funding common research projects in the area of telecommunications, new media, future Internet, and applications & services focusing on a new "Smart Connected World" paradigm.

Consortia have to be composed of at least two partners from two different countries. Please, note that Celtic-Plus is an intergovernmental programme. This implies that project partners are funded by their national agency . For Switzerland, the funding agency of reference is the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI).

M-ERA.NET 2015

The aim of ERA-NET funding schemes is to fund transnational innovative R&D projects related to materials science and engineering including micro and nano technologies, production processes and technologies. Click here to see specific topics of the current call.

Consortia have to be composed of a minimum of 3 partners (requesting funding) from at least two different participating countries that are listed in the M-ERA.NET call 2015. At least one of these partners must be European.

Swiss partners will be funded by CTI and they will have to submit a CTI application in addition to that one submitted at the European level.
