Swiss funding opportunities: open calls for proposals

SNSF NEW LEAD AGENCY WITH WALLONIA

To simplify collaboration with Belgian researchers, the SNSF has signed a Lead Agency agreement with the funding organization of French-speaking Wallonia. The process simplifies the submission and evaluation of transnational applications.

The SNSF and the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FRS-FNRS) of Wallonia have agreed to take turns as the Lead Agency on a yearly basis. In 2017, Lead Agency applications with Wallonia may only be submitted to the FNRS, regardless of whether the larger portion of the project budget is requested in Switzerland or in Belgium.

U CHANGE - STUDENT INITIATIVES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The programme U Change, led by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, supports the implementation of project ideas of students from Swiss schools of higher education, universities and ETH.

Two funding categories are envisaged:

  1. Student projects (up to CHF 10’000 per project)
  2. Support platforms for student projects (up to CHF 75’000 per project)

SNSF DOC.MOBILITY

Doc.Mobility fellowships of the SNSF enable doctoral students to write part of their PhD at a host institution abroad. These fellowships are awarded for 6 to 18 months.

Funding includes a grant towards living costs, a flat-rate for travel expenses and, if justified, a contribution towards research and conference costs as well as matriculation fees.

SNSF EARLY POSTDOC.MOBILITY

Early Postdoc.Mobility fellowships of the SNSF enable postdocs starting their career to spend a postdoc research stay abroad. In principle, these fellowships are awarded for 18 months, in justified cases for at least 12 months.

The grants include living costs, a flat-rate for travel expenses and, if justified, a contribution towards research and conference costs as well as matriculation fees.

Submission is possible up to 2 years after obtaining the doctorate.

Switzerland and Finland are announcing a Promotional Call for projects ideas on the topic of Life Sciences within the Eurostars programme in order to increase the Swiss-Finnish cooperation in innovation.
