HORIZON 2020: IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON SUPPORT FOR RESEARCHERS IN SWITZERLAND

On 25 June 2014 the Federal Council approved interim measures in response to the unresolved situation regarding Switzerland's association to Horizon 2020. The measures are designed to support researchers in Switzerland who are involved in projects and programmes financed under Horizon 2020 and who will no longer receive any funding from Brussels. Here below, a summary of the main measures that have been approved:

  • direct federal funding for researchers in Switzerland who take part in Horizon 2020 cooperation projects but do not receive EU funding.
  • with respect to co-financed research programs such as COST and the SME support program AAL, SERI will consider in conjunction with the respective responsible organization of those programs how best to provide the funding
  • with reference to H2020 ERC, the Federal council has requested the Parliament to approve additional funds in 2014 for SNSF's "temporary backup schemes"

Please, click on details in order to access more detailed explanations. Other useful information on Swiss participation to Horizon 2020 and the programme in general are available on our website.
