Since 1 January 2017, Switzerland is fully associated to the entire Horizon 2020 programme. In accordance with the latest information published by the European Commission, researchers in Switzerland must prepare and submit their project proposals for all calls as participants from associated countries using the ‘Participant Portal’ for Horizon 2020.

SNSF PROJECT FUNDING |
Under the project funding scheme, qualified researchers define their research themes and objectives themselves and conduct their project under their own responsibility. They can apply for funding of research costs and staff salaries, as well as scientific cooperation, networking and communication.

SNSF - CTI BRIDGE DISCOVERY |
The Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) and the SNSF are launching the first call for proposals for the funding scheme Bridge Discovery.
Bridge Discovery is aimed at experienced researchers who wish to realise a technological innovation with great social or economic impact. They can submit a proposal on their own or as part of a consortium of up to three researchers. The project must be characterized by scientific excellence and a clear vision of a future application.

QUANTERA - ERA-NET IN QUANTUM SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGIES |
QuantERA has just launched a joint transnational call for research proposals in Quantum Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies.
The ERA-Net QuantERA is a consortium of national/regional research funding organisations supporting research in Quantum Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies (Q-ICST). The call addresses the following topics: Quantum communication, Quantum simulation, Quantum computation, Quantum information sciences, Quantum metrology sensing and imaging, novel ideas and applications in quantum science and technologies.

INNOVATIVE MEDICINES INITIATIVE (IMI) CALL 10 |
IMI2 has launched its 10th Call for proposals under the IMI2 programme, with the following 8 topics:
- Topic 1: Understanding hypoglycaemia: the underlying mechanisms and addressing clinical determinants as well as consequences for people with diabetes by combining databases from clinical trials.
- Topic 2: How big data could support better diagnosis and treatment outcomes for prostate cancer (part of the Big Data for Better Outcomes programme)
- Topic 3: Improving the care of patients suffering from acute or chronic pain (this topic includes three subtopics on patient reported outcomes; biomarkers; and chronic pelvic pain)
- Topic 4: Creation of a pan-European paediatric clinical trials network
- Topic 5: Biomanufacturing 2020: development of innovative high throughput analytical tools and methods to characterize cell culture fluid during development and commercial cell culture processes

JAPAN SOCIETY FOR THE PROMOTION OF SCIENCE: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR OVERSEAS RESEARCHERS |
The programme “JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Overseas Researchers” enables Swiss researchers to stay in Japan for 12 to 24 months.
After evaluation by the SNSF, the JSPS will evaluate the applications nominated by the SNSF and inform the candidates about the funding decision by the end of July / beginning of August. The selected researchers will therefore be able to commence their stays at the earliest in mid-August and at the latest on 30 November 2017.
