ERA-SYSAPP (ERA-NET FOR APPLIED SYSTEMS BIOLOGY) – FIRST JOINT CALL FOR PROPOSALS

This transnational call on ‘Transferring Systems Biology Knowledge into Applications’ aims to encourage scientists from nine participating countries to collaborate and share resources beyond national boundaries.

The participating countries are Cyprus, Germany, Latvia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.

GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Graphene Flagship is one of Europe’s first technology flagships. The mission is to take graphene and related layered materials from academic laboratories to society, revolutionise multiple industries and create economic growth and new jobs in Europe.

The  Project consortium will be extended to new partners demonstrating complementarities to carry out specific research tasks within the project. The new beneficiaries will be selected from proposals submitted in response to this Competitive Call and having comprehensive expertise in these research topics.

JSPS (JAPAN SOCIETY FOR THE PROMOTION OF SCIENCE) OPEN PARTNERSHIP JOINT PROJECTS/SEMINARS

The scheme “Open Partnership Joint Projects/Seminars” provides Japanese researchers with an opportunity to do a joint research project or a seminar with researchers around the world who reside in any country that has diplomatic relations with Japan, plus Taiwan and Palestine. It is aimed at supporting travel and accomodation costs.

In case of interest, you are invited to contact your Japanese partner in order to submit an online application.

HASLER FOUNDATION: OPEN CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

Hasler Foundation provides its support by financing or co-financing selected educational, research and innovation projects and undertakings in the field of ICT. Namely, the following funding schemes are available:

Innovation projects, targeting Master and PhD graduates who, in the course of a dissertation or Master's thesis, have developed a new and innovative technology or method that appears to have considerable market potential and may lead to set up a new company.

Standard projects aiming to support research projects that, although meeting the quality standard criteria for funding, they don't fall within the spectrum of SNSF or CTI support.

Small projects, whose funding request does not exceed CHF 50,000 and which serve to prepare for an SNSF or KTI application, or supplement a completed SNF or KTI project, or are a stand-alone small project without a preceding and successor project. Please note that there is no specific deadline for submitting a proposal for small projects.

EURIPIDES (EUROPEAN SMART ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS): CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Euripides is one of the EUREKA 'Clusters' that are long-term, strategically significant industrial initiatives. They usually have a large number of participants, and aim to develop generic technologies of key importance for European competitiveness. Euripides is focused on ICT and Smart System Integration.

This programme aims to bridge and coordinate research in the partner countries. Funds have to be raised at national level. For an overview of Swiss funding agencies involved click here (in most cases, these projects are funded by the Commission for Technology and Innovation CTI).

COTUTELLES DE THESE

A cotutelle de thèse is a doctoral project that is carried out within the framework of a formalised agreement between a Swiss and a foreign University. The maximum amount of aid is CHF 10,000.

SCIENTIFIC EXCHANGE PROGRAMME NMS-CH (SCIEX): CALL FOR PROPOSALS

SCIEX is a cooperation program between Switzerland and the new EU member states of Eastern Europe, aimed at awarding fellowships for doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers from these countries to be hosted in Swiss higher education and research institutions.

This call, open from January the 1st, concerns the following countries: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia. The call is also open to  Slovenian-Swiss research teams that have already been funded by SCIEX and that wish  to conduct a follow-up project with a new Slovenian Fellow.

LEAD AGENCY AGREEMENT WITH FRANCE

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the French National Research Agency (ANR) have concluded a lead agency agreement to run for two years from October 2013, with the purpose of simplifying the process of evaluating cross-border projects with French partners. The lead agency procedure allows for the submission of a joint application to one of the research funding organisations.

Please note that the lead agency will alternate between the Swiss and French institutions, irrespective of the relative size of the national components in the project. The SNSF will start the first round of evaluation with its submission deadline ending 1 April 2014, and will therefore act as lead agency for Franco-Swiss projects in 2014.

IMI (INNOVATIVE MEDICINES INITIATIVE): 11TH CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) is Europe's largest public-private partnership aiming to improve the drug development process by supporting a more efficient discovery and development of better and safer medicines for patients.

The IMI 11th Call 2013 for proposals includes topics covering research priorities in the field of Biomarkers and Biobanks, Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders/Brain Disease, Infectious & Inflammatory Diseases, and Pharmacological Interactions at the Molecular Level.

ANGELO DALLE MOLLE FOUNDATION PRIZE: BEST PROJECT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE

The prize rewards a draft research project in the field of improving quality of life, primarily projects aimed at humanising production and the use of goods and services with a view to creating a balanced social system. For 2014, a prize of CHF 20'000 will be awarded.
