MARIE-CURIE RESEARCH AND INNOVATION STAFF EXCHANGE RISE

RISE supports short-term mobility of research and innovation staff at all career levels, from the most junior (post-graduate) to the most senior, including also administrative and technical staff, thus promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas from research to market (and vice-versa).

Support is provided for the development of partnerships in the form of joint research and innovation activities between the participants. The grant supports the secondment of staff members for one month to one year.

EURIPIDES

Euripides is one of the EUREKA 'Clusters' that are long-term, strategically significant industrial initiatives. They usually have a large number of participants, and aim to develop generic technologies of key importance for European competitiveness. Euripides is focused on ICT and Smart System Integration.

This programme aims to bridge and coordinate research in the partner countries. Funds have to be raised at national level and rules defined by the national funding agency of reference have to be respected. For an overview of Swiss funding agencies involved click here (in most cases, these projects are funded by the Commission for Technology and Innovation, CTI).

ERA-NET HERA: JOINT RESEARCH PROGRAMME "USES OF THE PAST"

HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area) supports transnational research cooperations in the humanities in order to enhance their profile at national and European level.

Within the scope of the joint research programme Uses of the Past, transnational consortia are invited to submit proposals for humanities-led research into the various ways in which our understandings and representations of the past have had and do have significant impact on our present and future.

Research consortia must include at least four partners from four HERA partners countries. Applicants from Switzerland must meet the participation requirements for the SNSF's project funding schemes.

JSPS (JAPAN SOCIETY FOR THE PROMOTION OF SCIENCE) POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

These fellowships enable young Swiss scientists to stay in Japan for 12 to 24 months. This year, the SNSF may recommend at the most three candidates to the JSPS for 2015.

After the evaluation by the SNSF, the JSPS will assess the applications nominated by the SNSF and inform the candidates about the funding decision in September. The selected researchers will hence be able to start their stays on 15 September at the earliest and 30 November 2015 at the latest.

AMBIENT ASSISTED LIVING (AAL): CALL PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT

The AAL JP is a funding activity that aims to create better condition of life for the older adults and to strengthen the industrial opportunities in Europe through the use of information and communication technology (ICT).

Within the context of the AAL programme, the following call for proposals will be launched in February 2015:

Living active and independently at home

The contribution of ICT/technologies to integrated solutions for supporting active and indipendent living of older adults in their homes.

Consortia have to be composed of at least 3 independent eligible organizations (legal entities), from at least 3 different AAL Partner States participating in the Call for Proposals.

Swiss partners are funded by the SERI and are required to provide matching funds. Find more details here.

M-ERA.NET 2015: CALL PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT

The aim of ERA-NET funding schemes is to fund transnational innovative R&D projects related to materials science and engineering including micro and nano technologies, production processes and technologies.

The next M-ERA.NET Call 2015 will be launched in February 2015. Click here in order to see specific topics.

Consortia have to be composed of a minimum of 3 partners (requesting funding) from at least two different participating countries that will be listed in the M-ERA.NET call 2015. At least one of these partners must be European. ERA-NET is an intergovernmental programme, meaning that funds are granted at national level. Swiss partners will be funded by CTI.

Important news

SNSF LAUNCHES OAPEN-CH PILOT PROJECT FOR OPEN ACCESS BOOK PUBLICATIONS

In February 2015, the SNSF will start the OAPEN-CH pilot project in collaboration with interested academic publishers in Switzerland and Germany. The aim is to learn more about Open Access publishing and collect data on the use and the production costs of Open Access book publications.

The pilot project OAPEN-CH is intended to be a shared learning process of the SNSF and interested publishers as well as other parties involved in the publication process (authors, libraries, university repositories). Its aim is to contribute towards a better understanding and higher acceptance of Open Access for book publications and its benefits.
